Tetzuso Iwamoto one of the most aggressive IJN fighter pilots to join the ranks of fighter aces
from all countries during World War II. “Tetzu” as he was known, was officially credited with 80
confirmed kills by the end of hostilities in 1945. But this was based on the Japanese standard that
closely followed the standard of the British RAF. After his death in 1955, his personal diaries were
found where he recorded 202 aircraft destroyed, with 27 unconfirmed and 26 shared victories.
Tetzu participated in campaigns from Coral Sea to the Defense of Japan. He faced off against
most Allied airframes in the South Pacific Theater including Soviet I-15s and I-16s in China and
Spitfires and Hurricanes in the Philippines and New Britain and was successful against all that he
fought against. Tetsuzo Iwamoto was never shot down and served on every South Pacific battle
front. Tiger Tetsu with his personal log confirmed, could have been the highest scoring Japanese
ace of the World War II. Join us for this exciting SNAPSHOT as we reenact a Japanese fighter
sweep mission into enemy territory during Late 1943.
