Accents by Redtail7 On Friday January 15, 1943, the P-40 Warhawks of the 33rd Fighter Group 12th USAAF were attacked by a surprise low level enemy air raid. This day the pilot's of the 33rd FG went aloft to shoot down 8 of 9 Ju88s. These Ju88s were escorted by C202s of the Regia Aeronautica. The ensuing scramble and air battle resulted in the 33rd FG's "Best Day" of the war.
