The Devil's Broomstick: Germany 1944

In the late summer of 1944, JG 400 became an operational squadron and a new age in military aviation was born. The unit operated the first rocket powered aircraft in battle, sending their Messerschmitt Me 163B 'Komet' against formations of B-17 bombers over the skies of the Third Reich. By September, they had conducted over a dozen sorties and claimed almost as many victories. By the end of September, JG 400 had fewer than a dozen serviceable aircraft and even fewer pilots capable of flying the rocket glider.

Throughout these months, tactics were constantly being sharpened and honed as the brave experten would ferociously dive on the bombers and continue their dive to build up speed, only to zoom climb again above them. Their short fuel range meant that they had to glide home, so the pilots had to become excellent judges of glide speed, rate of descent, and depth perception as it pertains to distance.

This event will attempt to recapture the exhilerating fights above Germany as the Luftwaffe deploys its newest weapon in the air, the "Devil's Broomstick."

Bomber ALT minimum is 18K, cap 22K.

Fighter ALT cap 28K

Fighters may not take ordnance. Objects destroyed by fighters will not be scored.

Me 163, Bf 109G-14, and P-51 will be disabled for Hour 2. 

*Me 163 must be given to ONLY ONE SQUAD. Me 163 pilots may take off in another fighter and bail at no cost whenever they choose to take off in a Me 163. The CM will be alerted and the pilots will be allowed to takeoff from the designated Me 163 base. 

Scoring:

Scoring will be based on a pass/fail system. Objects destroyed by fighters will not be scored. The Allies will win the frame if they destroy the following in 120 minutes:

50% of Town buildings at both towns AND  a total of 10 Hangars + Bunkers from A142 and A89 in Frame 1.

50 Factory Buildings in Frames 2 and 3.
